Bring Your Own Bowl! Let’s whisk a heartwarming bowl of Matcha together!

Ochadozo.com is delighted to present this BYOB (Bring Your Own Bowl) Matcha event.

Event Date: 2024-9-14 (Saturday)

Time: From 12:00-17:00, 5 sessions in total, 1 session every hour. Each session will last about 30 minutes and have up to 15 participants.

Location: CIC Zero Carbon Park, 8 Sheung Yuet Road, Kowloon Bay, Kowloon.

Ticket Price: HK$150/person/session which includes a 1-person portion of premium matcha powder from Japan, a matcha whisk for participants to use at the event venue, and brief introduction to matcha and whisking techniques by certified Japanese tea instructor Ms. Yuki Futami. This is followed by participants whisking and enjoying their own bowl of matcha. Towards the end of each session, where time permits, we’ll exchange thoughts on Japanese tea and other topics that come up. Sessions will be in English with Cantonese interpretation where required.

This is a family-friendly event (please note all payment is non-refundable and ticket price will be the same for adult or child).

*What bowl should you bring? It can be any favorite bowl of yours from your home or office (preferably a ceramic or wooden bowl at 11cm in diameter and 7cm in height or greater).

BYOB events, where participants whisk Matcha in their favorite bowls, give us a chance to promote Japanese tea culture in Hong Kong and beyond, by crossing-over hands-on Matcha events with local culture and venues:-) A big thank you to our collaborators CIC Zero Carbon Park and Jupyeah.

Bring Your Own Bowl! Let’s celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival together with Matcha!

In partnership with the Heritage of Mei Ho House, Ochadozo.com is delighted to present this Mid-Autumn Festival BYOB (Bring Your Own Bowl) Matcha event, at the Grade II historic building Mei Ho House.

Mei Ho House was built in 1954 to house the victims of the Shek Kip Mei fire, as one of the earliest resettlement buildings in Hong Kong. In 2013, HKYHA revitalized it into the YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel and Mei Ho House Heritage to continue its story.

Everybody has their own favorite bowl:-) BYOB events, where participants whisk their own Matcha in their favorite bowls, gives us a chance to promote Japanese tea culture in Hong Kong and beyond, by crossing-over hands-on Matcha events with local culture and venues:-)

14:00-14:45 Session #1 (up to 25 participants)

15:45-16:30 Session #2 (up to 25 participants)

Location: YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel (Function Room), Block 41, Shek Kip Mei Estate, 70 Berwick Street, Sham Shui Po, Kowloon (8-minute walk from Sham Shui Po MTR Station Exit B2).

Towards the end of each session, where time permits and as participants wish, we'll exchange thoughts on matcha, cultural heritage preservation, and other topics that naturally come up.

今個中秋節,帶上你最鍾意的一隻碗 (Bring Your Own Bowl - BYOB),在二級歷史建築美荷樓一齊泡一杯日本抹茶!

美荷樓於1954年建成,為了安置在石硤尾大火中受影響的災民,成為香港首批徙置大廈之一。香港青年旅舍協會在2013年將其活化成YHA美荷樓青年旅舍及美荷樓生活館,延續了美荷樓的故事。

Ochadozo.com希望通過舉辦由參加者自帶碗泡抹茶的BYOB活動,融合日本抹茶與本土文化及場地,藉此在香港及其它地方推廣日本茶文化:-)
